Andrew Neil SKEWERS Diane Abbott with hilarious put down after interview gaffes

The veteran BBC host mocked the shadow home secretary’s interview preparation after she muddled her figures in several interviews last week.

Ms Abbott suffered a series of humorous gaffes at hands of journalists while launching Labour’s policing policy and commenting on the party’s failings in the local election.

Introducing the BBC’s Sunday Politics’ topics, Neil said: “Joining me for all of that, three journalists ready to analyse the week’s politics with all the forensic focus of Diane Abbott preparing for an interview.”

Speaking on LBC, Ms Abbott was caught out by Nick Ferrari who told the Labour frontbencher her proposed figures for 10,000 extra police officers would mean they are only paid “£8,000 a year”.
