Are Fortune Tellers Real? Discover the Truth About Fortune Telling (No More Stereotypes)
Are fortune tellers accurate, or are they for entertainment purposes only? Why would one want to see a fortune teller, and what sort of information are they able to provide? And what about the fortune telling stereotype? Does it really reflect the true nature of fortune telling… or is it a “bad rap” that’s NOT deserved? In this article we are going to take a quick and easy look at fortune telling, and I’m going to give you some HONEST answers that two decades of psychic research have afforded me as well. Curious to know more? Continue reading as we take a closer look below!
What IS a fortune teller anyway?
Good question! Honestly? I see it as a bit of a disparaging and “unenlightened” term. I truly don’t know any genuine psychic, tarot readers, clairvoyant or medium who would appreciate being called a fortune teller, and to me…it denotes a negative impression as well.
A fortune teller is often a euphemism for slang term for psychic. The origin of the term goes back hundreds of years, and over time, in the modern world, has become a bit associated with circus psychics who use costumes and crystal balls to “divine” your future.
Can a legitimate psychic REALLY predict the future?
Absolutely. As a matter of fact, some very strong studies suggest that YOU can predict the future, too! (both in your own life…and in areas that have nothing to do with you at all) But, rather than delve into a scientific article on the nature of time and space and it’s relationship to future events, let’s just say that precognition, or the ability to see things that have NOT yet happened is a pretty well established phenomenon.
What kind of tools do “fortune tellers” use?
Good question! It really depends a bit on the type of reader, AND whether they are legitimately psychic, or simply playing games or trying to entertain an audience. A good psychic can use anything from a deck of tarot cards, to intricate astrological charts, to reading objects (often called psychometry) to channeling or even communicating with spirit guides. (most often associated with psychic mediumship)
A “fake” fortune teller or entertainment oriented psychic will often use props like a crystal ball, or some other new age type of gimmick that they feel plays into the expectation of the audience. (this is NOT something that’s going to help you see your future, and rather should be looked at as fun and light entertainment only)
Can psychic readings, tarot or astrological insight really change my life for the better?
Absolutely. And yes, I know that some people have a difficult time believing that, and that’s totally okay. I believe (and know from personal experience) that there is much more to life….than that which meets the eye. I believe that we each have karma, and that there is a very important spiritual component to each of our lives. Tapping into this “power” is often an amazing way to wake up to our personal purpose, and PASSION and live the type of life we were destined or put here to pursue.
The BEST way to tell if a fortune teller is truly gifted, honest and able to predict your future?
Use your OWN intuition. If something seems or feels gimmicky to you, avoid it, or them. (Unless you don’t mind playing along, and have a sense of humor about the experience) If you truly crave genuine intuitive insight, seek out real readers who don’t use props, shills or any silly tools or techniques that are ONLY meant to perpetuate an outdated stereotype that really does NOT reflect reality (and insults REAL professionals in the field as well!).
