French Election Debate: Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron CLASH over EU’s future in France
Both Mr Macron and Ms Le Pen are expected to make it into the second round of voting in the approaching election.
During the debate this evening, Mr Macron said: “Madame Le Pen, you resort to lies that we heard come out of the mouth of your father.”
He said that Ms Le Pen’s “nationalism” proposal would result in “economic war”.
Ms Le Pen’s father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, led the Front National party from 1972 until 2011.
Mr Macron said: “I want to reform Europe, but with a constructive dialogue.”
