I’LL HELP YOU DITCH THE EU
Chancellor Philip Hammond played down claims that the fact Mr Trump spoke to a string of world leaders, including Ireland’s Enda Kenny, before making contact with Mrs May indicated that the UK was worryingly low on his priority list.
Speaking in London during a trade summit with China, Mr Hammond said the apparent delay in the call to Mrs May was because they had no “urgent business” to discuss.
He insisted: “The special relationship is alive and well and strong and deep.
“As I’ve said many times before, what is special about the special relationship between the UK and the US is that it is not a relationship between any two people or the holders of any two offices, it is a very deep relationship that works at many levels.”
