LABOUR ROCKED: ‘It doesn’t add up!’ Financial expert RIPS John McDonnell’s budget APART

There was a risk the Conservatives would in future have to raise tax to fund extra spending if, for example, continued real terms cuts in pay for public sector workers became unsustainable.

Mr Johnson said: “But whatever they do, it’s very clear they will be raising taxes an awful lot less – by many orders of magnitude less – than Labour is planning to do.

“The Conservatives might end up raising taxes, I wouldn’t be surprised by £10billion or so, to plug some of the holes they’ve got, but they’re clearly not going to be looking at the £50billion Labour have explicitly said they’re looking for – though Labour would have to look in some different places to the places they’ve mentioned.”
