At least three people were killed Tuesday in a Moscow courthouse shootout during a hearing that involved a group dubbed “the Grand Theft Auto gang,” Russian news agencies reported.
State-operated Russian news agency RIA Novosti said the shooting happened in the Moscow Regional Court. RIA Novosti lawyer Sofya Rubasskaya said she heard at least 20 shots fired.
A lawyer at the courthouse told Russian news agencies he saw a guard and a court official with injuries. A man, 45, and a woman, 40, were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened during a hearing for a gang of nine people who have allegedly terrorized Moscow roads. The gang has killed more than a dozen drivers, RIA Novosti reported. The nine men, all from Central Asia, are charged with 17 murders and two attempted murders.
