iPhone 8 case leak claims to show device compared to iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus [Video]

0

Over the weekend, we saw a purported iPhone 8 mold compared to molds of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, offering a look at how the iPhone 8’s bezel-less design will lend itself to a smaller form factor. Now, Japanese blog Macotakara has gotten its hands on a purported iPhone 8 case and compared it side-by-side to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus..

The blog says that the case first appeared on Chinese shopping website Alibaba, claiming to be an iPhone 8 case. It’s likely that the case design is based on earlier leaked schematics and molds, but it provides a good look at how certain things compare to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

For instance, the camera cutout lines up in a way that corborrates earlier reports that the iPhone 8 will feature a vertically aligned dual-camera array that will support new augmented reality features.

Additionally, because of the vertical camera design, the power button has been shifted down slightly as to not interfere with the cameras.

In terms of overall size, the iPhone 8 case is noticeably smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus and just a tad larger than the iPhone 7. This has been reported several times in the past, as the iPhone 8 is expected to feature a bezel-less front design that allows for a display similar to that of the iPhone 7 Plus, but a body size closer to that of iPhone 7.

Macotakara says that the iPhone 8 case appears to be slightly thicker than the iPhone 7, which again falls in line with earlier reports that pegged the iPhone 8 to feature dimensions of 144mm x 71mm x 7.7mm. The current iPhone 7 comes in at 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus is 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm.

Of note, there’s also no rear Touch ID cutout, but that doesn’t necessarily mean much at this point as it’s possible that Apple hasn’t even nailed down the Touch ID positioning at this point.

As always, these sort of iPhone 8 rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s interesting to see the comparison’s as we wait for Apple to officially unveil the device.

Earlier this week, a hands-on video showed off an iPhone 8 dummy unit, again giving us a look at the device’s size and design. We also saw renders of the device in several color variations.

You can catch up on all the latest iPhone 8 rumors and reports here for more.

Apple quietly issued the updates tonight, with a quick and to the point change logs. The company says the update for iMovie improves stability of the app when updating libraries originally created with previous versions of the software. Additionally, the update fixes an issue related to clip volume after transitions:

  • Improves stability when updating libraries created with earlier versions of iMovie
  • Addresses an issue which could lower the volume of clips after transitions

For Final Cut Pro, the update improves stability with keyboard shortcuts, audio fade in, and sharing clips:

  • Resolves a stability issue when using keyboard shortcuts to trim in Secondary Storylines
  • Fixes an issue in which certain editing operations could create an extra audio fade in
  • Fixes an issue in which the Share dialog could incorrectly display a codec warning

The last major for Apple’s video editing software applications came alongside the announcement of the Touch Bar MacBook Pro, though the apps have seen smaller updates since then.

iMovie for Mac is available on the Mac App Store. The video editing app is free on new Macs and is available for $4.99 on older machines. Final Cut Pro is available for $299.99 on the Mac App Store, though Apple recently introduced an education bundle for $199 that also includes Logic and other pro apps.

The Coolest Cooler

The Coolest Cooler

At the risk of sounding too much like a cheesy infomercial, we gotta say that this is the ONLY cooler you will ever need! The fact that you can literally blend up fresh margaritas on the road has us drooling.

But, the best part is that it can keep food and beverages cool for an astounding 4 to 5 DAYS! Camping, anyone??

The fabled history of The Coolest Cooler

Since it’s conception in 2012, The Coolest Cooler has experienced some unprecedented high highs, as well as some crushing lows.

The company’s founder, Ryan Grepper, decided to go the crowd-funding route for his unique invention. In August of 2014, the campaign had raised more than $13.2 million from over 62,000 backers, and it was named as one of the 12 most successful in the history of crowdfunding.

With support like that, you’d think that everything would be smooth sailing for the cooler maker, but, as it turns out, the complexities of business ended up getting in the way. Slow delivery times and raised prices disappointed the product’s earliest fans.

This led to some serious resistance from the investors who had yet to receive their cooler, but all ended up resolving itself when the company found a way to settle with these folks.

Nowadays, The Coolest Cooler can be purchased in a variety of new, fun colors via their website, Amazon, or at a licensed retailer.

To watch Grepper, A.K.A “The King of Kickstarter”, show off the coolest invention ever, be sure to click on the video below. Though this cooler is quite the investment, we think that it may just make our summer that much better—tempting, to say the least!

Why This Bride’s Surprising Speech Stunned These Men

0

TheQueenBuzz via LittleThings

Weddings can bring up all kinds of emotions in people. Whether it’s a crying maid of honor or a reluctant father of the bride, you never quite know what to expect when those speeches start rolling. And though we’ve seen our fair share of unconventional nuptials, we think that this heartfelt and unexpected speech from the bride herself is one of the absolute best.

Now, we know what you are going to say: “A BRIDE giving a speech—isn’t that for the wedding party?” We admit that we were first a bit taken aback by the sight, too, but once we realized just why she had taken to the microphone, we instantly started rooting for her.

As it turns out, this newly-minted bride and groom are no ordinary newlyweds. You see, the husband, known only to viewers as James, is actually a police officer. To celebrate James’ noble profession, his new wife decides to make an incredible dedication.

The bride kicks off her bombshell speech by first introducing the six men who are standing behind her as fellow police officer colleagues of her new husband. She says:

“All of these gentlemen standing up here are brothers in one way or another. They made the same oath, they chose the same path and are the only one who have each other’s’ backs. If I had to describe these men, I would say: brave, courageous, headstrong, heroes, role models and selfless.”

It’s clear that all of the men (new hubby included) are completely touched by her kind gesture. And while we think the sweet speech would be sufficient, she actually wraps up her eloquent tribute by offering quite the surprising gift…

The story behind this inspiring speech

This viral clip was first posted by the bride’s sister on her website The Queen Buzz. There, “The Head Bee”, as she calls herself, credits her sis with the courage to get up there and honor all of her husband’s brothers in blue.

Before tying the knot, both James and his soon-to-be bride actually relocated from New Jersey to Virginia just so that he could become a full-fledged officer. He had been working as a volunteer officer, and was hungry for an opportunity to finally serve and protect in a more meaningful way.

She says that the bride’s motivation had everything to do with misconceptions about law enforcement that had recently been filling the headlines. With her sister being a now-wife of a police officer, she wanted to do “something different, something unique, and something that would send a message.” “The Head Bee” writes:

…my sister wanted to bring attention to the room filled of family and friends. My sister wanted to educate and bring awareness to what these men and women do. My sister wanted nothing but a thank you with a cup of coffee or tea. My sister wanted what was right.

To see the beautiful bride give this earnest speech (and gift!) to an unsuspecting crowd, be sure to click on the video below. This is a selfless act if we have ever seen one—good for her!

What do you think of this bride’s unexpected speech? Did the gift surprise you? How do you choose to honor police officers? Tell us all about your thoughts and experiences in the comments section below!

Mom Remakes Thrift Store Duds into Fab Ensembles

0

Sarah Tyau

Rummage through your wardrobe for a few minutes and it’s possible that you have a few pieces that you’d love to remake. Turn an old shirt into a shirtdress. Spin a nightgown into a romper. You’re not the only one who wants to.

Sarah Tyau is a blogger and crazy talented fashionista of the highest order. Not only does she have an eye for fashion, but she makes clothes for her own family – from thrift store finds! In a blink, she can spot new potential in old rags, and then turns them into updated threads.

The 33-year-old mom of three from Salt Lake City, Utah, runs a blog called Life is Beautiful, where she posts things like sewing projects, family adventures, and personal anecdotes. Her fashion exploits – which she calls refashions – are what’s caught the attention of the web.

Looking to save money for her family, Sarah began skimming her own closet and transforming her old clothes into designs inspired by what she saw online or in media. That was back in 2010. Now, when she snags something in a thrift shop, she can reimagine it in matter of moments.

Sarah TyauJackets, shirts, dresses, sweaters – you name it – are remade into new garments for her and her children. She’s even done home furnishings! Several months ago, Sarah began sharing DIY tutorials on her own YouTube channel, and once a week she invites viewers to help her refashion a thrift store find.

In addition to that, her Instagram page stays busy with before and after shots of her projects. Check out some of her designs! Oversized coats are converted into little girls’ dresses, as are men’s shirts and stretched out sweaters. Take a look at how denim gets remixed and embellishments are added to formerly plain and mundane outfits.

Scraps from many of Sarah’s projects are also refashioned. They’re turned into cute accents like bows, belts, or headbands. Just look at what she’s done with this old wedding dress.

Sarah TyauSarah’s heart doesn’t just go into her designs; she’s altruistic as well. She hopes to start her own clothing line with the help of her young daughters, with the proceeds all being donated to children’s charities. According to Sarah’s blog, she’s also in the process of launching a mother-daughter sewing tutorial series.

Combing through Sarah’s sites and videos conjured up old memories of my mother and grandmother teaching us how to sew. Though my skills are nowhere near their level, Sarah’s upcycled DIY projects are inspirational and a gentle nudge. I so want to try again.

Scroll through some of the pics and you’ll be hard-pressed not to sift through your own closet, attic, or local thrift store. You can keep up with Sarah’s cool, environmentally friendly fashions on social media and her blog. Who knows? Maybe you’ll end up investing in a sewing machine!

Sarah TyauWhat do you think of Sarah’s creative designs? Do you also have a mean (or novice) set of sewing skills? Which items in your wardrobe would you love to transform? Share with us in the comments!
