As the saying goes, a best friend is like a four-leaf clover: hard to find and lucky to have.
Real friends are loyal, genuine and have a special place in our lives like family. They share our moments of happiness and sadness and truly care. They inspire us to become better and want the best for us–the same way we want the best for them.
For some, we met our best friend during childhood and kept him or her close since then. For some others, it may be a rare colleague we met in the workplace that turns into a close friend. Our best friend can also be our husband or wife, with whom we can share anything and everything about ourselves, act silly and like a fool, and that nobody else could ever replace. For some others, it can be a sibling or parent we consider to be our best friend. Friendship can take shape in so many ways. Don’t we even say that dogs are man’s best friends? And what about Diane von Furstenberg, who said once that “when a woman becomes her own best friend, life is easier!”
The truth is that life and happiness are to be shared and life becomes more beautiful, thanks to the special people in our lives we call our friends.
As we celebrated National Best Friend Day yesterday, here is a recollection of some of my favorites quotes about friendship.
