Over the years we’ve seen various ways that people have gone all out on proposing to their significant other. It seems like keeping it simple and not planning it out more than a year in advance may be a thing of the past. While this marriage proposal may be simpler than other extravagant proposals, like this man who proposed to his girlfriend in front of a tornado, it sure did take a lot of planning. But in the end, it looks like it was all worth it.
For an Australian man’s one year anniversary with his girlfriend he made her a necklace. The man, Terry, explained to The Independent that he always wanted to give a gift to someone in which they didn’t realize the true value of the gift. He thought this would be the perfect opportunity. He explained about how after spending just about a year with his girlfriend, Anna, he knew he wanted to marry her.
“I wanted to do something unique,” Terry said. “I also wanted to start doing wood carving and I had this idea for the necklace, so I decided I would give it a go.” We’re not experts, but we think his plan went well because after he gave the necklace to Anna she wore it every day.
And we mean it when we say she wore it
About a year and a half after Terry gave Anna the necklace, the two took a trip to Smoo Cave in Scotland, a place they had always wanted to travel. While at the cave, Terry asked Anna to see the necklace. He gave her the excuse that he wanted to prop it up against some rocks and take some photos of it. He turned his back and quickly loosened the tiny bit of glue he placed on the necklace to hold the two parts together and when he turned around he knelt down on one knee to give Anna her necklace back.
Anna was stunned and couldn’t believe she had been wearing the ring around her neck for over a year.
“Wait, it’s been in there the entire time?! I could have lost it, you [expletive] idiot!”
Translation: yes, of course I’ll marry you!
